I got loads of these and all a little odd! All on good thick white bread, maybe with some toasted sesame seeds on top! :D

1. Peanut butter and mature cheddar cheese.

2. Peanut butter and chocolate spread; (spread one on each round and then slep them together!).

3. Mature cheddar and strawberry jam (good late night snack)

4. BLT in a pitta bread with plenty of roast s in oil and mayo.

....the list goes on! I'll probably add more later! :D



If I'm in the mood for hot food, I'll just slap them in the BREVILLE!!!

Hold everything! Over the past couple of weeks I've been experimenting in the kitchen, baking my own bread. Now obviously the bread is the most important part of the sammich but I've started to realize with fresh homemade bread, 'less' filling is sometimes better! I find homemade bread is better with just butter and sometimes a bit of jam and it makes awesome toast! Try making your own, you won't be disappointed! :thumbs:

I didn't make it ... but i had a pork souvlaki on a bun
(greek style- diced onion-tomato-lemon oil-tzatziki sauce)
order of dill pickle slices on the side.
Just about the top of the tops as far as taste and texture.

Ok here we go....ingredients...

As you can see we have lettuce, tomatoes, grated cheddar and pork sausages. spreads; Marmite, ketchup and Sandwich spread.

Start off with four slices of buttered bread then spread two slices with marmite* (if you have never tried Marmite before do not put more than a teaspoon between the two slices). Then apply a good thick layer of Sandwich spread* on top. Then slap on the rest in any order you please. The sausage is best added hot straight from the grill and sliced vertically to avoid rolling off. I find it best to apply the hot meat direct to the cheese to get a bit of melting going on. If you like a lot of melt in your cheese, bung it in the microwave for thirty seconds. Spread your ketchup on the other two slices of bread and then slap them on top!

*For those of you unfamiliar with Marmite it's just a spread made from yeast extract, other brands include Bovril and Vegemite. The small tub in the pic was pinched from a hotel last time I was in one. I don't eat Marmite very often and so to buy a jar would be a waste, which is why I always grab a handful at breakfast when I'm in a hotel!

*I think Sandwich Spread might be another British favourite. It's a sort of tangy, sour pickle like affair!

Conclusion

Plenty of flavour, very tasty and very filling but I now think pork sausages is the wrong meat for this. I think it would be much better with either beef strips or ground beef.

Hot corn beef with a deep fried egg sunny side.
shredded four cheese mix on top then romaine lettuce,
sateed mushrooms with a touch of paprika,salt, and parshley.
all this on rye bread and spicey honey mustard.

I may have posted this before but this is a recipe for AMAZING.

EYE OF ROUND - Steak sandwich.
(this is actually for a dinner thread- but the left overs are KILLER)

Try this method of cooking an eye of round.
Spice the outside with your fav rub-
Onion and garlic powder -thyme and rosemary with cracked salt and works just fine for me.

This came out rare and incredible.
Cold sandwiches could be made from the ends that tend to be cooked through -fucking BARK is to die for.

Toasted crostini bread with garlic butter -
-thin sliced beef sandiwch with mayo...
(alfalfa sprouts or even arugula would work well in the sandwich to add a level of taste and texture)
Pan drippings made Au Jus...
Kicks your face in - tasty good shit.

I love cockles and mussels, cleaned shelled then fried up in a bit of bacon fat. Stick them on fresh white bread with a bit of black ! :thumbs:
