I was on the phone talking with a friend who was telling me that her estranged husband had been threatening her, next I hear her saying "Oh God, he's in the house and next I hear a loud gun shot and the phone dropped. I called 911 on my ell phone and asked for the Police and told them where to go. In the back ground I heard sirens and then another loud gun shot and police scrambling inside her house and I heard one officer say, we have 2 victims, male and a female both dead, call for the coroner and the phone went dead.

I dug up the news story about this. The mother was dead on the scene, the kids were taken to stay with relatives. Near as I can tell, Jesus Humberto Canales is still at large; the most recent articles I can find about the murder is from July of last year.

As for my searching for this, I discovered that murder-by-sword is apparently still fairly common. I can't decide if this fact is really cool or really awful.
