The Saudis are alot more humane than people think. Gotta love their logic though. Thieves get their hand chopped off. It's done quickly, but the offender is given a local anesthetic. For offenses as severe as murder, they get the death penalty(decapitation), but no anesthetic (as I saw in a Saudi TV interview of an executioner)because one, their going to die any way, and two, with an experienced executioner, it's done so quickly if you blink, you'll miss it. Once done, no more offenses and the victims family have some sort of closure to know their loved ones death has been avenged.
