Discuss the long-awaited franchise trifecta initiation, beginning with the latest release of Terminator Salvation.
First off, I haven't seen the movie yet, so I'm staying out of my own thread until I do see it, you folks can spoil all you want IN HERE since I'll be elsewhere 'till I see the movie.
Now I've been a huge fan of the Terminator series since watching Terminator 2, like a few years after it came out, I never quite understood what it was about at the time, since I was like 10 years old, but all the little special effects added up to something cool.
Then then fishface took over to modernize with the videogame-like, fast-paced action thriller with all the special effects in Terminator 3. It's more of a fun movie than anything else, but I still felt like I was watching Grand Theft Auto the whole time, with cars getting stolen/trashed, etc. for most of the movie. With Arnold doing politics, and Cameron not into it as much as he was 20 years ago, we all knew it after seeing T3: "What a mess we're in," well really, "What a mess the franchise is in."
So, they sold the franchise, but now I'm afraid that all the high-powered action thrillers have been too inspired by the likes of Spiderman, Xmen, and even Transformers, focusing more on attracting the teenage, videogame audience. Coming into Terminator Salvation, I'm expecting to see something akin to a less-aggressive, less hyped up, and more "i, robot"-like "action thriller," basically action without much thrill.
Anyways, that's my take. Either I go to see it in the Cinema (apparently with someone) or I watch it online somewhere.
Terminator 2 fan since 1995.![]()
