Grotesque...
The story of Hanna (blu-ray) revolves around the manufacturing of a genetic "perfect solder" prototype, though you wouldn't recognize so at first given the arctic winter survival and endless scenes involving Hanna herself often running from government agents dressed in street clothes, whistling like assholes, and peaking into childhood toys for any sign of her. Hanna serves more as a distraction from the many (often fatal) interludes that are dropped in at rather periodic moments throughout the film. Of course it would be too easy to just shoot Hanna, so the "predators" resort to rather dopey and predictable antics akin to videogame character maneuvers, while the plot resorts to a mixture of drawn-out family and music scenes, mere snapshots of key elements of the film, abundant loopholes with no certainty that a correct guess will help you to predict any logical scenes, and, unfortunately, no attempt to symbolize the relationship of the emotions of the genetic "freak" with her "growing up" after her mission is complete. Her "father" plays a useful, practical role in the first 20 minutes of the movie, but that is where the character "development" ends. The movie is high on suspense and soundtrack theme, medium on character development, and low on delivery. After watching, you may want to shoot this blu-ray just for being manufactured. But then again, that would be too easy. 2/5
