Well spotted sherlock. This happens on a regular basis, there's nothing you can do until Admin get out of bed, just have to live with it. You can try sending Mike or Dan a message but their probably asleep right now.

It may have happened before, but I was gone when it did. To me it's like watching the board lose its spam virginity. It's a special feeling.

But this topic wasn't made to point out the spammer or that spam is occurring, it's to point out that one or more of the pictures in these spam posts are pretty hot. So you see, sometimes spam can be used as visual material.

Perhaps you should of worded the title differently.

Perhaps I should have worded the title differently, or perhaps you should have used your mind and been creative instead of going for what's obvious. After all, I'm a complicated person who is rarely understood.

And again you're going for the most obvious, boring, simple answer. Everything is visual material. A car can be visual material, so can bugs and dirt. I mentioned in the original post that one of the pictures got me excited. Using the rules of simple deduction, you should have come up with something like sexual visual material. Excited + visual material = something hot enough to get a guy horny, or in a simple sense sexual material.

So in the end you're at fault for not being able to comprehend my creativity.

It's true that my creativity can cloud my comprehension, however this is not a case where my supreme amount of creativity is clouding my understanding of anything. The title is just the title. What's important is what's in the message. Some forum posts have titles such as 'oh my god'. According to what you're getting at, that title of 'oh my god' would be a statement of religion. If everybody were to think like you think, the post would be about religion, regardless of in post it's about a computer virus.

This is moot.

It's my belief that both of us were in the wrong. I was in the wrong for not stating my opinion boldly enough. You were in the wrong for assuming that the title is everything. In the future I shall keep my questions, explanations, and opinions concise.

I suggest we drop this though, it's a pretty silly thing to debate about.

I would just like to go off-topic for a second. I'm truly glad that somebody such as yourself is now an active member of this board. I really do enjoy debating on the internet. I hope we have similar encounters in the near future, but with something with a little more logic.

I agree, the subject matter is trivial a conversation from here would indeed be pointless. A debate of this nature could continue for quite some time and yield little or no result and could even develop into more of a disagreement.

I'm here..... we deleted a few we're working on a more efficent way to prevent the spammers from targeting our forum but as you know thats a very hard task! Joey does a good job for us right now

Spam is an issue that is incredibly easy to solve. I can give you guys a few tips. I used to be a webmaster, so I know from experience.

The fact that there's any spam being posted altogether is fucking bullshit.

There are a nice bunch of email domains and IP addresses that could be banned, as well as the new ones from the same idiots who put "Man" and their ICQs in their profile. Mods should be checking each registered user... the cues are so glaringly obvious to me from experience that just doing a members search for the most recent users will return like 50% spammers.

Spam is an issue that is incredibly easy to solve. I can give you guys a few tips. I used to be a webmaster, so I know from experience.

vBulletin makes it easy to block out all sorts of spammers, just as long as you keep a record of spammer IPs and email domains handy, just in case. Spammers can target the forums all day, but from first-hand experience at another forum, I managed to drop forum spam (an extreme outbreak of spam) on a medium-activity forum from 200 spammers registering a day to maybe 10 spammers registering a day in a period of 2 months (read as: 95% improvement in two months)... and this is from not knowing a damn thing about which IPs were causing trouble, which IPs were proxies, which email domains were B.S., etc. etc. I've seen a lot of this stuff go by, and spammers are trying all the tricks (both old and new) to get in, but I bet that I could cut spam down around here to almost nil in two weeks. Seriously, preventing spam around here is not hard, and you don't even need the zillions of word filters (although they help a little).
