This is the horrific moment a man was beaten up and stabbed to death by two thugs after he left a cafe bar.

Footage shows two men attack the man, knocking him to the ground, before repeatedly stabbing him in the chest and back.

The attack on the 23-year-old victim, whose name has not been released, was captured on CCTV cameras in the city of Atyrau in western Kazakhstan's Atyrau Region.

Police have arrested two suspects, both aged 22. One has been charged with grievous bodily harm which caused the death of the victim and has been remanded in custody.

However, the second man has only been charged with hooliganism and has been released on bail - to the disgust of the family of the dead man who say the video clearly implicates two men in the death.

Aidos Ibraimov, the lawyer hired by the victim's family, complained: "The video is showing not a hooliganism, but a murder.

"I'm going to apply for cancellation of the bail. I'm also going to apply for re-qualification of the case from hooliganism to murder."

The victim had reportedly spoken with one of his attackers as he left the cafe at around 6am to go home.

The pair then followed and attacked him. The victim tried to run back into the cafe but was caught by his attackers on the steps to the premises.

The video shows them knock him to the ground when one of the men kicks him in the face before both of them appear to repeatedly stab him in the front and back.

The pair than ran off leaving their victim lying in the snow. Passersby ran to his aide and called an ambulance to rush him to hospital where he died from stab wounds to his stomach without regaining consciousness.

Police revealed that the two suspects they arrested were visiting Atyrau from the town of Zhanaozen in western Kazakhstan.

Police spokeswoman Gulnazira Mukhtarova said: "The incident happened in the early morning near a city cafe. The victim was attacked by two men after he went out of the cafe. He was beaten up, then stabbed."
