Electroshock Turns White Man Black

The nightmare began around 11:30 p.m., June 27, when a homeless man tried to steal high-voltage cables inside the Santa Bárbara Tunnel, in the direction of downtown Rio. The criminal act had disastrous consequences: a short circuit started a raging fire that quickly spread throughout the area. The Rio Operations Center had to close the tunnel in both directions. As a result, there was traffic chaos. Firefighters, Military Police and Light teams were also mobilized to contain the fire and ensure the safety of those involved.
