A Family man was reportedly shot dead near the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) NDDC Hostel while allegedly attempting to rescue his kidnapped family. The incident reportedly occurred on September 6 during a botched kidnapping attempt in the area. Two women linked to FUTO were also reportedly abducted and remain missing. They have been identified as Igwegbe Chioma Lilian (Omah), a 2025 FUTO graduate, and Spencer Jennifer Adaeze, a 300-level Optometry student.
