Former Ghana striker Raphael Dwamena has died after collapsing Saturday during an Albanian Super League match.

The Albanian Football Federation confirmed the death of the 28-year-old Dwamena.

Footage on social media appeared to show the player by himself and falling over on the field in the 24th minute of the match between Dwamena's Egnatia and Partizani.

Other players rushed over and, despite immediate medical intervention, the federation said 'the player unfortunately passed away.'

«In 2017 he failed a medical in England top league for a big team, because Doctors saw he had a heart problem.

In 2019 he was playing in Spain’s top league and Doctors advised him to immediately retire because of a heart problem.

He ignored it and had a defibrillator implanted in case he was ever to collapse.

In 2020 he withdrew from playing in Denmark because of his heart condition and advice by Doctors.

In 2021 he was playing in Austria, when he collapsed, because of his heart condition. He was brought back to life on the pitch.

In 2022 he removed his defibrillator implant when he was playing in Albania.

In 2023 he collapsed and later died, as Doctors predicted, playing sport. Doctors said had he not removed the implant, he could have survived.

So this is as a guy so dedicated to playing the game, he ignored every doctor and virtually died twice on the pitch.
