The lawyer had arrived at approximately 2 p.m. at the "Pikeitos" bar, located on the Pan-American Highway, about 40 meters from the Plaza de Armas in San Martín de Porres. She was with three other people: a couple and a man. The incident occurred at 5:55 p.m.

According to witnesses at the scene, two men arrived nearby on a motorcycle. While the driver waited, his passenger, wearing a black helmet, gray t-shirt, and blue jeans, got off and approached the fence separating the bar from the street. From outside, he brought the gun to within about 20 centimeters of the lawyer's head and fired several shots. The first shot, which struck her in the head, was fatal. The other three people were not hit, as the assailant approached, aimed directly at his target, and escaped. The killers fled north on the Pan-American Highway.

Silva Padilla's companions rushed her to Tomás Lafora Hospital, but doctors there could only confirm her death. The young lawyer leaves behind two minor children.
