The Hama City Council in Syria has officially banned swimming in the city's famous Norias (waterwheels) and waterways. Because apparently, people needed to be told that historic irrigation devices aren't public pools. The ban comes after a series of incidents—meaning people actually tried it and got hurt. In Syria, the only thing more dangerous than the war is the locals' decision-making skills.

This looks like a training camp to weed out the unfit for civilian duty.
