Police found a man lifeless and sprawled on the ground after he was hacked in Barangay Central, Mati City, Davao Oriental, at 5:10 PM on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

‎According to information from Police Regional Office (PRO) XI and the initial investigation by the Mati City Police Station (CPS), an altercation occurred between the victim—identified by the alias "Boki"—and the suspect, identified as "Narciso," a local resident. The suspect hacked the victim on various parts of his body, resulting in his death, and immediately fled toward Lemente, Mati.

‎Police immediately launched a hot pursuit and dragnet operation to apprehend the suspect, while the Davao Oriental Police Forensic Unit processed the crime scene.

‎Subsequently, at 7:30 PM that same day, the suspect was arrested at the Relocation Site in Bilawan, Barangay Central, Mati City; he is now in the custody of the Mati CPS pending proper disposition and the filing of charges.
