This happened in Dehradun Family Court premises in Uttarakhand at a family dispute hearing.

Meenakshi Nagoti, a resident of Hathi Barkala, was taken to court for a dowry harassment case against her husband.

It is said that she suddenly jumped down from the first floor. She sustained serious injuries including a fractured right arm.

The police immediately rescued her and admitted her to the Doon Government Medical College Hospital for treatment..

Police said they have not been able to obtain a full statement as she is in shock.

A dowry harassment case is a legal proceeding triggered when a wife or her family is subjected to physical, mental, or emotional cruelty by her husband or his relatives over demands for cash, property, or valuable gifts. Though giving or taking dowry has been illegal under the Dowry Prohibition Act since 1961, coercive demands and abuse persist.
