"A military police officer was removed from patrol duty after appearing in a video firing a rubber bullet at point-blank range at a man in the housing complex known as Predinhos, in the central region of Rio, on Friday night (20).

The incident occurred during a confrontation involving officers from the 4th BPM (São Cristóvão) and residents of the complex built on the site of the former Frei Caneca Penitentiary Complex, between the Estácio and Catumbi neighborhoods.

In the images circulating on social media, a young man appears on a bicycle, talking to other young people, when the police officer approaches. During the approach, he gets off the bicycle, raises his arms and appears to question the action. Then, the officer fires at close range."
