First, lets discuss WHY it’s so common;
Ghettos generally have residents who are largely poor minorities. Because of the low socioeconomic status of poor minorities, they are less likely to be able to get great employment. This, in turn, keeps families poor. Poor areas don't have great funding for education. This, in turn, prevents keeps kids from getting the qualifications needed for better jobs. With poor uneducated, people are more likely to turn to crime to get by. This can lead to drug dealing, gangs, etc. With more crime, more people get arrested, preventing the arrested person from supporting that individual's family. This is only part of what goes on in a ghetto, but the main idea is that there are a bunch of cycles that basically amount to this: Conditions suck for people in the ghetto, which causes other problems that make the conditions worse.
With this in mind, there isn't one simple solution for making everything better, again because the conditions are the result of a whole bunch of things going wrong. Sure you could add more police, but that will cause adults to jail and lead to children being raised by single parents. Sure you could give more money to schools, but that would be counteracted by the students' home lives and inability to go to college anyway. Sure you could have anti-crime campaigns, but there is already a culture that is familiar with being surrounded with gangsters and thugs. Sure you could help people get jobs, but not everyone will be successful, and if they are, they won't move back to the ghetto.
In short, poverty leads to crime. At this point, there are so many things contributing to problems in ghettos, many of which are long-term, that you can't just fix it without making large changes over an extended period of time.

Now then;
Research has shown that mainstream media often disproportionately focuses on negative imagery regarding Black men, which reinforces stereotypes even when those images do not reflect statistical realities.

Also, there are plenty of black people who have lived past the stereotypes such as;
Ice Cube: Represented the "everyman" from the block, rising from the environment that inspired N.W.A's gangsta rap to become a successful actor, writer, and director (War of the Worlds still sucked tho)
Wesley Snipes: Grew up on the streets of the South Bronx in New York City before becoming a renowned actor and producer.
Chris Rock: Born in Andrews, South Carolina, and raised in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, he became a major comedian, actor, and producer.
Cuba Gooding Jr.: Raised in the Bronx and later Los Angeles, he experienced a tumultuous upbringing before achieving stardom, notably in Boyz n the Hood.
Morris Chestnut: Born in Cerritos, California, he gained recognition for his role as Ricky in Boyz n the Hood, which portrayed the struggle to escape the violent surroundings of South Central Los Angeles.

Black individuals from low-income, high-crime, or "hood" environments can and frequently do change their behaviors, adopt new social norms, and thrive in different contexts. People from these backgrounds are fully capable of navigating different social and professional environments, which is often facilitated by education, mentorship, and a change in surroundings.

This can be fixed, and people should focus on helping those living in the ghetto out of the horrific cycle of systemic inefficient infrastructure and gang violence. Sometimes I wish I was in USA so I could help out.
