Kurdish forces played a crucial, central role in the territorial defeat of ISIS, particularly in Syria.
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)—led by the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) and Women's Defence Units (YPJ)—were the primary ground partner for the US-led coalition in Syria. They were instrumental in key battles, including the liberation of Kobani in 2015 and the final stronghold of Raqqa.
Iraqi Kurdish Peshmerga forces were critical in stopping the initial ISIS advance in 2014, particularly in northern Iraq when the Iraqi Army was retreating.
Following the territorial defeat of ISIS, Kurdish forces in northeast Syria have been responsible for holding thousands of apprehended ISIS fighters in detention centers.

the Kurds weren't just watching, they were infact the opposite, for they're widely considered the most effective fighting force on the ground against ISIS.

SDF are the best faction in Syria, they have democratic structures and women have more rights then under these islamists. Turkey is supporting this war against SDF .
