@Livelockandload Reports indicate a significant, organized cybercrime industry operates within and from India, often targeting individuals and institutions in Western nations, but it is incorrect to say the country "survives off" this activity.

Scams, including tech support fraud, loan apps, and investment fraud, have grown into a massive, "farm-like" industry in areas like Jamtara, frequently targeting foreign nationals. Victims of these, and similar Southeast Asian operations manned by trafficked Indian citizens, are targeted globally, with high losses reported in Western nations.

HOWEVER! Many Indians are trapped into working for these networks, with hundreds being rescued from cyber-scam factories in Cambodia and Myanmar. And while these fraudulent schemes have duped thousands, resulting in massive illicit financial flows (billions of rupees over recent months), they represent only a subset of the illegal economy and not the foundation of India's overall economic survival. The Indian government has initiated efforts to crack down on these criminal organizations and rescue citizens involved in them.
