Judging by what people were wearing and the variety of guns on hand, you would have to be stark staring raving mad to open a gold shop in that country.

A little aside - my grandfather was in the British Army and did some time in Afghanistan in the very early 19th century. Apparently, it was a dangerous, lawless
shit-hole then and absolutely nothing has changed in the last 126 years, or so it seems.
