Criminals belived to be from Kimbe reportedly traveled from Kimbe to Rabaul and then on to New Ireland, where they were “warmly welcomed” (liklik custom wok) upon arriving at Konos beachfront.
It is suspected that they used a boat route from the Namatanai east coast, passing through Lihir and Simberi before reaching Konos, where they were eventually apprehended by police.
This group of young men were found in possession of homemade firearms, including pistols, which were confiscated by police officers. They are considered highly dangerous, and the robberies circulating on social media in Kavieng, Rabaul, and Kimbe are believed to be linked to them.
