@DrPerc30 mainstream American liberals do not believe that everyone in the world should come to the United States, nor do they generally advocate for completely open borders. While liberal views are more welcoming to immigrants and refugees compared to conservative views, their position typically focuses on a "high wall with a big gate"—meaning secure, controlled borders combined with legal, efficient, and humane immigration pathways.

From what I’ve gathered;
Most liberals support a structured immigration system that vets people, rather than unlimited entry.
A significant majority (roughly 87% of liberal Democrats) support a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants already living and working in the U.S..
Many liberals view mass deportations as inhumane, economically damaging, and impractical.
The focus is often on providing legal status to "DREAMers" and law-abiding undocumented people who have been living and paying taxes in the U.S..
Liberals generally believe that increasing diversity makes the country better, with a high percentage of liberal Democrats welcoming immigrants from a wide variety of nations.

While some fringe or activist positions may lean toward unrestricted movement, the mainstream Democratic and Liberal/Leftist position emphasises balancing economic needs for labor with national security and legal processes. It is my position, too.
