A volunteer who helped special forces soldiers and the homeless was brutally attacked and beaten. Valeria Belova (Lera Zima) had five dogs, two of which were sick. Two drunken thugs attacked her on the street and set their Staffordshire terrier on Valeria and her dogs. According to the victim, the attackers knew about her help from the front and shouted anti-Russian slogans in support of Ukraine. Valeria was diagnosed with a severe concussion and head injuries, but she refused hospitalization - her injured dogs were waiting for her at home. Over time, her condition worsened: frequent fainting forced her to start looking for homes for her pets and make an appointment with a doctor. On April 23, she was scheduled for an examination, but she died at home before she could leave. Locals say one of the attackers, a 23-year-old sadist, is known for setting his dogs on other people's pets and has attacked women in the past.
Police have identified the suspects, and they are reportedly being held and charged with murder and anti-Russian activities. They face life in prison.
