Felipe Alberto, an inmate serving a 20-year prison sentence, was killed by Tijuana municipal police officers on the afternoon of Saturday, May 2. The incident occurred when he attempted to violently steal a motorcycle from a citizen near the ITR Tecnológico campus.

Upon being intercepted by authorities, the man threatened both the officers and bystanders with a firearm, forcing the officers to respond and neutralize the imminent threat.

The deceased had been on the run since April 18, after escaping from Tijuana General Hospital. He had been transferred from the "El Hongo" prison in Tecate due to a medical emergency.

During his stay at the hospital, he took advantage of a lapse in security by his assigned guard to evade surveillance and escape. After his escape, images captured by security cameras were released showing him moving normally through the hospital corridors shortly before running towards the exit.

Saturday's police mobilization stemmed from a citizen's report of a violent attempted robbery by two men. Upon arriving at the scene, officers pursued one of the suspects, who tried to hide in a convenience store parking lot. When cornered, the man ignored verbal commands and pointed his weapon at people in the area.

After being wounded in the confrontation, he was taken into custody to a medical center, where he died shortly afterward, confirming his identity as the fugitive wanted by state authorities.

Simultaneously, law enforcement agencies arrested a suspected accomplice identified as Edgar Iván “N”. This individual was located and apprehended on Gato Bronco Boulevard while driving a Ford Escape, a vehicle allegedly used to escort the attempted motorcycle theft.

Both the firearm carried by the deceased and the seized vehicle were turned over to the Baja California State Attorney General's Office for further investigation and to determine legal responsibility.
