A man was brutally assaulted on Sunday night (11) in the Cidade de Deus community, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, after being accused of stealing medication from a pharmacy in the region.
The suspect was caught by residents, who immobilized him, tore off his clothes and beat him with punches, kicks and pieces of wood. Images circulating on social media show the man lying on the ground, naked and bloody.
Military Police teams were called and provided assistance to the victim, who was taken to Lourenço Jorge Hospital, in Jacarepaguá. There is no updated information on the man's health status.
The Jacarepaguá Police Station registered the case as attempted homicide. The Civil Police are investigating to identify the aggressors.
