He is accused of stealing cows, and the community is punishing him in a room with a Peruvian flag and a large painting of Jesus in the background . Members of the community loudly count the blows while a woman whips him with a rope. This is an example of the informal justice typical of these rural organizations, which have been resolving cases of cattle rustling for decades.

In the old American West, the local judge would declare an automatic hanging on the public street in a hastily built gallows - or more probably something that was saved behind the courthouse or saloon.

This looks like a punishment for stealing candy from the general store.

I have no idea how to steal cattle. How do I steal a bunch of goats and cows? I’m sure I could figure it out but why? That thought hasn’t crossed my mind
