why the fuck are africans in ukraine??

2 +1 BigHeartSmallWorld 1 month ago

@Caniscanyou Africans in Ukraine are primarily present as either long-term residents, international students seeking affordable, quality education, or, more recently, individuals recruited or lured by Russia to fight as mercenaries, often on false promises of lucrative security work. Some were trapped after the 2022 invasion while others are joining in 2025-2026.

Reports from late 2025 indicate Russia is targeting young Africans from countries with high unemployment, recruiting them through fraudulent promises of work, only to send them to the front lines as mercenaries, others have been lured by high monetary offers to join the Russian army.
Many Africans living in Ukraine were forced into "shock mobility," facing discrimination and difficulties in escaping the war zone.
However, there are some whom are simply students and residents. Ukraine has long been a destination for African students, with over 20% of its international students coming from Africa, many studying medicine.

Sad part is, Russia basically just got caught kidnapping and forced slavery on African men. There's atleast 2 videos circulating, one of a man name Roger from Uganda I believe, waiting for Russians to fall asleep in the trench, then running to enemy lines saying he was kidnapped, and theyre doing it by the airplane loads. Havent followed up, but they mentioned sending him home vs being a prisoner of war. Probably want to verify his story first I suppose. Supposedly advertising great paying jobs for men from Africa in Russia, then when they land, soldiers bring them out at gunpoint and force them to sign enlistment papers. Roger said he got paid $0 for his time.

He must have promised his gods that he wouldn't eat people again if they helped him stay alive.
