In the early hours of May 19, 2026, a heartbreaking road accident occurred in Ansari Market, Jwalapur area of Haridwar, Uttarakhand. An elderly man, who was on his way to offer morning prayers, was crushed to death by a speeding truck. The incident was captured on CCTV, showing the truck running over the pedestrian before continuing on its way.The driver did not stop after the accident and fled the scene, making it a clear case of hit-and-run. The victim died on the spot. Local residents expressed shock and grief over the rising number of road accidents in the area.This tragic incident has once again highlighted concerns about reckless driving and poor road safety on Haridwar’s busy routes.
