A 21-year-old suspect was run over by a driver after attempting to rob a woman in the Freguesia do Ó neighborhood, northern São Paulo, on May 20, 2026.
According to police reports, the man approached the woman — who was taking her children to school — and stole her cell phone at gunpoint. The weapon was later found to be a fake gun (replica).
Her husband, upon being alerted, immediately pursued the suspect, who was fleeing on a motorcycle. During the high-speed chase through the streets of the neighborhood, the driver struck the motorcyclist with his vehicle. The impact also damaged three parked cars.
The suspect was injured, received medical attention, and was arrested in flagrante delicto while under police escort at the hospital. The stolen cell phone was recovered.
The case is being investigated as self-defense / reaction to robbery.
