Tragedy in Caruaru: Mother and son die in motorcycle accident on BR-232
A serious traffic accident took the lives of a mother and her son on Sunday morning (24), in Caruaru, in the Agreste region of Pernambuco.
According to information from the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the tragedy occurred around 6:40 am on the BR-104 overpass ramp, at the access to the BR-232. The young man, Sandriel Hugo Ferreira, 19, was driving the motorcycle and taking his mother, Cibele da Conceição, 38, to work at the Caruaru Fair.
According to reports, the motorcyclist lost control of the vehicle while making a turn on a stretch of wet road, at km 129 of the highway. The motorcycle violently crashed against the metal guardrail and both were thrown from the motorcycle.
Due to the force of the impact, Cibele da Conceição did not survive her injuries and died at the scene. Her son, Sandriel Hugo, was rescued by firefighters and taken to the Agreste Regional Hospital (HRA), but he did not survive his injuries and died en route.
The bodies of mother and son were sent to the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) in Caruaru. The case, registered as a traffic accident with fatalities, is still being investigated by the authorities to determine all the circumstances of the incident.
