@themichaeldegore I've been editing since before digital cameras were even a thing. I've been a film camera operator since the 80's. Try editing 35mm film. You obviously think you're a hot shot, but I've seen far better from 1st year film students. You either chose to break all the rules, or you're ignorant of them. My gut tells me the latter. Nobody wants to look at black screen. Fucking Isis has a better editor than you, probably because he knows how to operate a camera better than you. I can even tell you his name - Abu Hajer al-Maghribi. He was a student at the Berlin School before he got radicalised.

@themichaeldegore my advice is that rules are generally they're because they work. It's fine to deviate slightly, but so much deviation from the norms can lead to lackluster results.

The criticism is valid, most of these are cut very short. Could he have stated this to you in better terms? Yes. However, your responses are very defensive out of the gate.

Saying "I don't care" and "nobody cares" through multiple replies is also silly. If you didn't care, you wouldn't be responding like that. And also, ellipses should definitely not be used that frequently unless you're going for a specific comedic effect.

To sum it up, your editing is fine except for cutting it short. Nobody cares about the insertion of multiple breaks in there, in fact, I found them charming, but extend out the clips you have and the video would be immensely more satisfying to the end watcher.
