and that is why blind people should not drive anything.

1 +1 BigHeartSmallWorld 1 month ago

@brainscrambler Whether blind people should drive depends on the legal and practical definition of blindness, which exists on a spectrum rather than being solely total darkness. While fully blind individuals (no light perception) cannot safely operate a car on public roads, some individuals with low vision or legal blindness can, and do, drive under specific, strict conditions.

Legally blind does not always mean no vision. It is defined in many places as 20/200 vision or worse in the better-seeing eye, or a visual field of 20 degrees or less. Some people with low vision (around 20/70) can drive with restrictions in specific states.
Some low-vision drivers use bioptic telescopes—small telescopes attached to glasses—to scan for signs and traffic lights, allowing them to pass driving tests.
States that allow low-vision driving often impose restrictions such as daylight-only driving, lower speed limits, or the requirement of special side-view mirrors.
Blind people can and do drive in safe, controlled environments, such as on private property or on race tracks with instructors, for the experience of driving and personal freedom.
Autonomous (self-driving) cars are regarded as the most realistic future avenue for fully blind people to "drive" (or, more accurately, ride independently) without creating public danger.

Blind individuals should not operate standard vehicles on public roads without meeting strict visual acuity and field-of-view requirements. However, those with low-vision capabilities and proper training/devices may safely drive within legal guidelines, and automated vehicles offer future potential for full independence.

was it worth it to take israeli money to go riot?

1 +1 BigHeartSmallWorld 1 month ago

@SlaveDriver this was in India. The only protest I could find around this time in India was BWI trade union affiliates across India, on 12 February 2026, joining a massive nationwide protest called by a joint forum of central trade unions and the Samyukt Kisan Morcha. That happened like 8 days after this.
