The body of 23-year-old Denize da Silva Cruz, found last Sunday (14) in an abandoned house in the Bonfim neighborhood on Mosqueiro Island in Belém, showed signs of violence, according to the Pará State Scientific Police.

According to experts at the scene, Denize had injuries consistent with assault. Her head had been slammed against a wall, and she had several bruises on her body, in addition to a large amount of blood inside the house. The young woman was also found partially undressed.

Denize had been missing since Friday (12), when she left home around 6:40 p.m. on a black and green bicycle, wearing a red dress. Initially, she told her family she was going to meet a sister, but her five-year-old son stated that his mother was actually going to meet a man.

The body was found after a resident reported seeing the young woman's bicycle in a wooded area. Upon arriving at the abandoned cabin, police found the bicycle in the back and, upon opening the door, discovered the body.

The case is being investigated by the Mosqueiro Police Station of the Civil Police. So far, there is no information regarding suspects, a motive, or the official cause of death.
