Joel Liberalino de Menezes Neto: Bar attack during match leaves three people affected in Brazil

Brazil. A 32-year-old man identified as Joel Liberalino de Menezes Neto lost his life following an attack at a bar in the municipality of Farias Brito, in the state of Ceará, while people were watching a match featuring the Brazilian national team.

Security camera footage from the establishment shows the incident occurring while customers were watching the game between Brazil and Haiti on television.

Attackers entered the establishment

According to information released by authorities, two men arrived at the scene wearing helmets to conceal their identities.

Both entered the bar and headed straight for the table where Joel Liberalino de Menezes Neto was sitting with others.

Upon realizing the situation, the victim attempted to flee further inside the establishment to seek protection.

Other customers also reacted and began leaving the premises to get to safety.

The victim tried to take cover

According to security recordings, Joel Liberalino de Menezes Neto ran toward the bar's restroom area.

However, the two assailants followed him there.

Shortly after, they left the establishment and fled before authorities arrived.

Two other people injured

Two other people inside the establishment were also injured during the attack.

So far, authorities have not publicly disclosed the severity of their injuries.

Emergency teams responded to the scene after receiving a report of the incident.

Investigation underway

The Ceará Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense (SSPDS) reported that the case is being investigated by the Civil Police Station of Crato.

Investigators are working to identify those responsible, establish the motive for the attack, and determine if there was any prior history involving the victim.

Authorities continue to gather evidence, including security camera footage and testimony from people who were present at the establishment at the time of the incident.
