A person's life is an absurd drama

14 +1 Naap51stang 4 months ago

PERFECT soundtrack!
People in the USA complain about all the rules/regulations that OSHA puts in place. But, it's amazing you rarely see stuff like this in
America. Mostly in China, India where they don't have safety laws because the people over there are not citizens, but "subjects" that
do the will of their government.

0 +1 习远平 3 months ago

@Naap51stang definitely right, people are untouchable for communist party of China, even to the wealthy, since the government can confiscate their property whenever they want

1 +1 BigHeartSmallWorld 2 months ago

@Naap51stang Complaints regarding Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations in the USA are common, often arising from a tension between the need for worker safety and the practical challenges of implementation, particularly for small businesses. While many acknowledge that regulations are "written in blood" (created after injuries or fatalities), critics often view specific rules as bureaucratic, inefficient, or out of touch with field realities.

Compliance can be costly and time-consuming, particularly for small firms that lack dedicated safety staff.
Critics often argue that regulations are created by individuals with little, if any, field experience, resulting in rules that do not always fit specific industry needs.
Some safety measures are perceived to make jobs harder or slower without necessarily increasing safety.
There is often frustration when different OSHA agents provide conflicting interpretations of rules, leading to the perception of "bureaucrats' differing opinions" rather than standardized, clear laws.
Some industry professionals feel that inspectors focus on minor, paperwork-related issues ("gotcha" violations) rather than substantial, imminent dangers.

Workers and managers sometimes feel that rigorous safety protocols (e.g., specific fall protection or lockout/tagout procedures) hinder productivity or make tasks more complex.
There is a perception that companies may focus on appearing compliant to avoid fines, rather than fostering a genuine culture of safety.
Some view OSHA as a bloated agency, leading to animosity and a belief that, in some cases, regulations are unnecessary or overreaching.

Despite these complaints, many recognize that OSHA has contributed to a significant reduction in work-related injuries and deaths since its creation in 1970. However, the debate continues over finding the balance between effective, necessary safety regulations and excessive, burdensome bureaucracy.

Awesome sauce

14 +1 Zuzka81 4 months ago

Previous site design was much better, more clear and organized. I am confused from this design. What I don't like:

- video thumbnail preview, i prefer static image and not moving image. Also the preview image is too large, 1/3 size would be enough.

- videos are not sorted newest to oldest, i just want to see all videos that were added chronological

- and there's is too much scrolling needed, there should be 2 or 3 columns, not like Instagram endless scrolling

Please make adjustment. Thank you.

@1:14 there are pictures of the aftermath here in theYNC I think it happened in Russia.

2 +1 FalseFlagg 4 months ago

@drhazihawass
Can you provide a link? I’m fascinated

1 +1 americanweeg 4 months ago

@FalseFlagg please provide. I too want a gore woody

2 +1 Tom_Anderson 4 months ago

@drhazihawass Yes it was in November 2020, I remember it well. The original video uploaded to the YNC was much higher quality - the version you see in the compilation has been degraded several times.

1 +1 drhazihawass 4 months ago

@drhazihawass snap a picture of the video and do a reverse image search. I just did that and I found the entire video as well as the aftermath photos. The name of the incident is “ Russian Lathe Incident”

They may as well have attached that camera to the spindle for all the good it does.
