Puerto Plata, Montellano, Dominican Republic – The young woman who lost her life this Sunday afternoon in a traffic accident in the municipality of Montellano, Puerto Plata province, has been identified as 21-year-old Steysi Bizcaíno Almonte.

According to preliminary reports, Steysi was riding a scooter when she was struck by a buggy-style motorcycle, allegedly driven by an off-duty National Police officer.

The young woman worked at a gas station located across from the Puerto Plata Air Force Base and, according to preliminary accounts, was pregnant. This information has not yet been officially confirmed by the authorities.

Relevant agencies are continuing their investigation to clarify the circumstances of the accident and determine liability.

Sadness. Had she been on a Harley the "buggy-style motorcycle" would have been shredded with the "off-duty National Police officer" dead and she would've merely suffered a couple scabs.
